SUMMER 09'!
5. UP
– After the piece of garbage known as Wall-E I am wary of the Pixar boyz, but I’m giving them a chance this summer and hopefully the American family (ugh) will prove me right.
4. TERMINATOR: SALVATION
– I gotta say, this spot was the hardest for me to predict. I could’ve put Wolvie or even Angels & Demons in this spot. But I think the franchise name and Christian Bale will get people to see this film in droves.
3. STAR TREK
– My top 3 are fan boy picks and what better fan boys than the almighty Trekkies. JJ had better make a good film. But even if he didn’t the repeat viewings by the uber-geeks will keep this film bringing in da cash!
2. HARRY POTTER & THE ISN’T HE DEAD YET?
– More fan boys. This film was delayed for 7 months! The HP fans are creaming themselves to see this film. This being a horse for the top spot is kind of a given.
1. TRANSFORMERS
– I’m kinda going out on a limb with this one. But due to the success of the first one and the bad ass preview, I think this film will get teenagers and fan boys alike to bring in the top spot.
On a side note, I could be WAY off this summer. I think Angels & Demons will be successful due to the Hanks/Howard connection and being the only real serious film of the summer. I think Wolvie could easily crack the top 5 but I think Star Trek will end it’s run rather quickly. G.I. Joe is an unknown since it’s the first one. But it could be like the first Transformers. Night at the Museum could be up there for a family film (shit, even Disney’s G-Force could be a dark horse). And Public Enemies and Inglorious Basterds could also be surprise hits. It’s just a summer of question marks.
