SUMMER 09'!
asdfasdf
5: DANCE FLICK
What the fuck do I know? I have not a clue as to how this summer will turn out, I may as well give a spot to a movie that I'm going to be forced to watch and hate, because I feel like being a decent guy about it for once. Besides, the Wayans' Brothers are legally obligated to turn one sour movie a year and I think this year it's going to be G.I. JOE. Now excuse me, BOZ has got to punch me now for saying that.
4: STAR TREK
Does anyone really care about Trek anymore? Isn't it almost in the same vein as STAR WARS in the sense that we've all given up on it? J.J. Abrams thinks not and I gotta admit that the trailers and previews have gotten me a little if not a lot excited to see it. And I have no investment in Star Trek at all. Scores upon scores of people out there do, however. So this one will be a tough flick to beat.
3: HARRY POTTER: AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE
I've found if there's anyting scarier than a Trek nerd, it's a Potter nerd. Especially tween Potter nerds who have been getting foreplay from TWILIGHT this past year. It's a given that this movie will suck pretty hard, but having been delayed six months in release people will be lining up to empty their pockets and all play along in the make believe world where Daniel Radcliffe thinks he can act.
2: TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN
This may or may not be the nail in the coffin of my predictions. The first film made heaping garbage trucks of money. But that was before we all digested how truly awful the movie was when either the robots or Megan Fox was absent from the scene. I can feel the tide changing on my man Shia, and Turtturro's soul has poisoned this movie before it could even be released. But I plan to be there for opening day/night/hour whatever. I'm giddy as a school girl over this movie. I hope that giddiness is contagious.
1: UP
WALL-E was a bit of a dissapointment in both story and receipts. It was a good try. Everything was up to par as far as all the technical aspects of the film goes but it was missing that spark that makes all of Pixar's films so magical. UP looks like it's got the magic back. And in a season where we all need a bit of wonder and humour in our lives I think UP is going to be the movie to beat this summer.
