DAYWATCH: A MOVIE SO GOOD YOU CAN FORGIVE THE ROOSKIES FOR ANYTHING.

YA' KNOW, EXCEPT FOR WANTI NG TO BLOW UP EUROPE

For all intensive purposes, this summer has been less than lackluster than previously expected. SPIDER-MAN 3 is a bust, PIRATES is more or less pissing off every critci and hardcore fan, and SHREK 3 is just plain old boring. Despite the fact that all three of these movies are raking in the cash faster than celebutaunts rake up DUI's they are (for the most partt) not fun. The once and future summer of dreams and hopes are being dashed on the rocks of dissapointment and reality. Goddamn I hate reality. Escape from which is the main reason why I go to movies in the first place!

And in a sea of mediocrity and awfulness along comes the Russians to show what a good time in a movie really means.

For the uninformed, read BOZ's review of NIGHTWATCH HERE. This will catch you up to speed to what's happening.

So DAYWATCH takes place not quite exactly after the first movie. It seems like a few months have gone by.

Konstantin Khabensky returns to play the hapless hero Anton. A man who has chosen the path of the Light Others. He has a heavy handed role in the apocolypse because through a whole shit load of really terrible life choices, he inadvertently caused his bastard son Yegor to become a Dark Other, chosen to be the Great Dark Other. In this movie, he's fallen deeply in love with Svetlana played by Mariya Poroshina. She's training how to be a Light Other under him. She's also been conveniently chosen to be the Great Light Other. You get it? You see where this is going? Yeah, so did the rest of the audience.

Basically, Yegor is commiting a whole bunch of unauthorized murders against us normies. You know, by stabbing them with a needle and drinking their life away. Last time I checked, that was a pretty basic M.O. for a thirteen year old boy, at least as far as the parents are concerned. Anton is asked by the Dark Others to help cover up Yegor's crimes so that he will not have to face death at the hands of the Inquisitors. Begrudgingly Anton complies and what does he get for his troubles? He gets framed by the Dark Others for different murders so that he may be put to death at the hands of the Inquisitors.

This causes the leader of the Light Others to have Anton switch bodies with his friends Olga, played by the super sexy Galina Tyunina. Olga then has to Svetlana to safety because, well why the hell not? Which leads Svetlana into explaining her love for Anton to Anton while in Olga's body. Still with me? Trust me, this is far easier to follow than PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: AT WORLD'S END. Then the two of them get changed in front of each other, and all sorts of girl shinanigans. Oooh, it's fun to be naughty.

Evenually Anton and Olga switch their bodies back, a great party for Yegor takes place in which his full power is brought to fruition, something about the chalk of destiny happens, and all hell breaks the fuck loose.

What is so great about this movie is that it takes itself seriously, while having fun with it at the same time. There is shit that happens in this movie that you're like "what the fuck?" but you don't care because there is all sorts of visual orgasms exploding in your face. The one part where the leader of the Dark Others grabs a downed power line and uses it as a whip, the little bouncy ball on a rubber band that destroys all of Russia, half naked Russian women. Goddamn, this is Christmas and my birthday all rolled into one.

FINAL ANALYSIS!

This summer has been seriously lacking on really fun movie to go to. All of the movies ending with the number "3" have been gigantic wastes of time and money. This tiny movie with a big heart from Russia is seriously, no kidding, a really fun flick.

You probably will never see these actors ever again in any other movies. You more than likely will never watch another movie from this director. But if you miss any of the NIGHTWATCH series, the only person you're hurting is yourself.
