DECOYS and DECOYS 2

Much like Truthbringer sits through schlock like Little Man and Dead Silence so you, our loyal fans, do not have to I also rent schlock like The Covenant so you don’t have to. But every once in a while, I rent what I think will be total shit and it actually turns out to be pretty good.

Our neighbors to the north, Canadia, decided they wanted to create their own sci-fi/horror series and they came up with Decoys. Written and directed by Matthew Hastings, Decoys has a few things going for it: aliens, monsters, college, sex and hot, HOT women.

An alien race has been dying off on their planet so they send a few of their female species to earth to try to mate with human males to help repopulate their own world. The aliens are shape-shifters and they take on the form of super hot chicks that no guy can resist, especially Canadian college schmoes. Unfortunately, the aliens can only mate in below freezing temperatures. So, every guy they get it on with freezes and dies before the nookie can be completed.

So, more Canucks keep ending up frozen until one college schmo, Luke, discovers the sinister alien plan. But Constance (played by the super hot Kim Porier of Dawn of the Dead fame), the alien leader, will not let him thwart their agenda. The police suspect Luke as the killer (even though all the guys are found dead with their pants down, hey maybe Luke is a HOMO-cidal maniac?).

In the end, Luke, with the help of his ex-girlfriend/cop Nicole Eggert, kills all the hot alien babes and saves the day.

Now, in the orginal Decoys, the babes are hot but none of them get nekkid. Kind of a drag for a film completely about sex and hot chicks. But the story was actually pretty engaging, the acting wasn’t half bad and the special effects were fairly decent. For a low-budget Canadian film, it was actually a decent renter.

But I also rented Decoys 2: Alien Seduction. Same story, Luke is now at grad school and Constance and some new alien babes return, still trying to mate with a human without killing him. But this time, there is nudity everywhere!!!! Now that’s what I’m talking about! If I want to see hot alien babe getting’ it on with Canadian college schmoes, I want nekkid chicks dammit.

This time Luke has some more help, he is aided by some new college guys, his teacher Saw’s Tobin Bell and his psychiatrist, the ever hot Dina Meyer.

Sorry, no screen shot this time.

On the DVD’s:

The original film has a pretty interesting making of featurette.

The sequel has no special features.

Final Analysis:

The films reminded me a lot of Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2. Not in their quality. Nothing can live up to the quality of those 2 classics. But in the tone of the films. Like Evil Dead 1, Decoys 1 tries to be a serious sci-fi/horror film. Even with its cheesy plot and no name actors, it really tries to take it self a little too seriously. But Decoys 2, like Evil Dead 2, does not take itself seriously at all. There are more jokes and campy scenes and of course the blatant nudey shots. All-in-all I had a pretty good night watching both of these films. If you want some hot chicks, some creepy alien monsters and a whole bunch of “aboots” and “ehs”, these are the films for you!
