SEAN ASTIN.
What a day this was, let me tell you. Seeing and hearing the man who immortalized the character of Andy in Goonies, Rudy from Rudy, and Samwise in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy was a dream come true. It was amazing.
The whole presentation started when Sean Astin made his appearance by sliding down the banister directly behind the stage on which he would be appearing. Thankfully he landed his slide, and his bones remained un-broken. Olympic Worthy!
The Q&A began and Mister Astin gave us insight into how he was made aware of the auditions for Lord of the Rings by a phone call from his wife. A story that I don't think many fans had heard. I know I certainly didn't.
There was also highly exciting news about a book that Mister Astin is writing about his experiences filming Lord of the Rings. I CAN'T WAIT FOR THAT BOOK!!!!
There was also talk about his father John Astin and his mother Patty Duke encouraging him in his desicion to become a part of the entertainment industry.
Lastly, Sean expressed great interest that he would love to be a part of the Goonies 2, if it ever came into fruitation. And that also Steven Spielberg has been working tirelessy on developing the script. HIGHTLY EXCITING!!!
But the best was yet to come. Next was the autograph session!! YIPPEEE! Getting to shake hands with a man who'se fine acting had me weeping at each and every LOTR movie was amazing. If there truly was a downside to the entire day were the very unprofessional, very loser-like employees of the comic book convention. They were right in the middle of the signing session they were writing a sign that said, in big bold letters, "NO PHOTOS!!"
Disappointed, Joe, and I approached this legend and we got a poster signed. Shyly I shaked his hand and told him I was a big fan. But in the presence of this very friendly man I muttered something to the tune of, "Could I get a picture of you?"
A gentleman if I ever saw one. Not only did he allow us to take the picture, but he took it with me in it. What a guy!!! What a gentleman. Those goons who only work 1 day a month would never have let me take a photo with him if it were up to them. But Mister Astin was kind enough to allow a peasant like me to photograph with him. YOU'RE THE BEST SEAN!!
Today we got to meet Sean Astin, a living legend. As well as find a few collectibles that are hard to come by these days. Like EVIL-LYNN!!!
One of the best days in Truthbringer history. One we won't soon forget.
